Welcome to the Festival of Wrong Conversations

We’ve been having the wrong conversations about health infrastructure for decades. It’s time to fix that.

Today, Loxie are launching something new, and just perhaps a little ambitious.

It has taken Christine and I months of conversations, more work than we anticipated (shouldn’t admit that one), plenty of debate, a shed-load of optimism, and the uncompromising belief that the best ideas rarely come from the places you'd expect.

Christine and I built this because we've been in rooms where the future of health infrastructure gets decided. And the thing that has always struck us most isn't what gets said, but it it's who isn't there.

I don’t think we lack solutions. We lack better questions, radical curiosity, and the right people in the room.

This festival is our response.

What is it?

The Festival of Wrong Conversations is a free, fully digital counter-festival challenging everything we think we know about health infrastructure.

The festival isn't about clinical bricks and mortar. It’s about the whole healthy infrastructure ecosystem - green spaces, high streets, parks, allotments, benches, people, cultures, and connections. All of it, all together.

Every conversation, provocation, or thought piece in this programme starts from our one core belief - the health system cannot solve its biggest challenges from within its own boundaries.

The future of health infrastructure won't be solved at standard health conferences. It will be solved by lots of people coming together. In partnerships. By ecologists, historians, clinicians, artists, community builders. By people who have never once been invited to speak at a health estates conference.

So we invited them here. Alongside the brilliant insiders within the system who aren’t afraid to demand we collectively do better.

When? Where? How?

There are no live sessions, so no dates to clear in your diary. No travel. No conference fees.

No need to spend more time than you have.

There will be articles, Q&As, provocations, case studies, and the occasional video - released across a structured programme throughout Autumn.

Read what interests you.

Share what provokes you.

Disagree with everything if you want to!

And at the end of it all, everything we’ve heard will published as the Festival Playbook - a free, open-access field guide for people trying to build healthier places. It’ll be totally free.

We hope you find something here that makes you think differently. Or that argues with something you thought you knew. Or gives you the language for an idea you've been thinking about, but couldn’t find the words for.

The wrong conversations are the ones we most need to have.

Emma & Christine
